What is CDB?
CDB is a unique, newly developed technology that employs a
complex algorithm to eliminate destructive resonant high frequency
vibrations in rotary wing aircraft.
What does CDB do?
CDB collects vibration data to compile a vibration profile for
each individual aircraft. Using this vibration profile, CDB provides
a specific solution for that aircraft to resolve destructive
resonant high frequency vibrations by addressing the root cause of
the vibration.
What is the concept behind CDB?
The concept behind CDB is to take the next step beyond
monitoring rotary wing dynamic components. CDB moves into the realm
of addressing root causes of dynamic component vibration and
corrects that cause. Also, our concept includes the ability to
accurately determine if a high vibration in a component is due to
induced vibration into that component, or if the component is
experiencing impending failure.
Does CDB monitor or fix the vibration issues?
By providing a unique solution for each individual aircraft,
the CDB process fixes the vibration related issues in the aircraft.
What is the process of applying CDB technology on an aircraft?
Trained technicians install vibration sensors on the drive
train along with a specially designed harness that connects the
sensors to the CDB computer. After data collection, the technician
applies the CDB solution to balance the drive train. After the
process is complete, the harness and sensors are removed. This
stand-alone process brings no weight burden or electro-magnetic
interference issues to the aircraft.
Which components are being checked?
In order to determine a complete vibration profile for an
aircraft, CDB gathers data from all dynamic components of the drive
train.
How long is the process to apply CDB?
One to two hours.
When does CDB need to be applied?
After initial balancing, the CDB process is normally aligned
with the aircraft maintenance schedule.
What kind of equipment do you use?
The CDB kit includes the highly technical CDB computer,
aircraft specific harness, CDB sensors and associated mounting and
installation hardware.
Who is qualified to apply CDB on an aircraft?
Qualified aviation mechanics that complete the CDB Training
Course provided by Shake’d Technologies.
What is included in your training and support program?
Shake’d Technologies can customize a training and support
program based on the clients needs.
What is the deference btw CDB and other vibration monitoring systems in the market today?
All the vibration systems on the market today merely monitor
existing vibration levels; none have any effect on reducing these
levels. By addressing the root cause of the problem, CDB nearly
eliminates all harmonic resonant vibrations.
What else does CDB do?
Beyond correcting vibration profiles of aircraft, CDB can
predict component useful life through trending analysis of component
data.
What are the benefits CDB?
CDB decreases operating costs by maximizing dynamic component
life. CDB also increases aircraft readiness rates and safety of
flight operations.
Do you have data history to show the benefits of CDB?
Shake’d Technologies has years of proven results of before and
after vibration profiles. Further information can be supplied during
a full CDB presentation.
Can CDB integrate with other vibration monitoring systems?
Yes, CDB can be integrated with several different vibration
monitoring systems.
Can you use CDB for other aircraft platforms?
Yes, the CDB process can be developed and refined for any
rotary wing platform in service to day.
How long does it take to develop CDB for a new platform?
4 – 6 months depending on client cooperation.
Can the CDB technology be demonstrated on our aircraft?
Yes, a demonstration can be arranged by contacting our office.
Do you have other vibration solutions to other rotary wing aircraft?
Yes. Please see our list of vibration related technologies at
